Rotate or Crop One Page of a PDF — Free, and Everything on It Comes Along

By EZ PDF Editor · Published September 24, 2026 · 6 min read

A sideways page in the middle of a document, or a scan with a wide margin you do not want: fix just that page, in the same editor where you fill and sign it, and the download keeps the change.

It happens in almost every scanned bundle: one page went through the scanner sideways, or a receipt was photographed with half the table around it. Most tools make you rotate the whole file in one place, then go somewhere else to fill it in. EZ PDF Editor does it on the page, in the same editor where you are filling and signing, and keeps everything you placed on that page with it.

Rotate one page

Open the PDF in EZ PDF Editor and show the Pages panel. Hover a page thumbnail: next to Extract and Delete are three buttons — Rotate, Crop and the gear for Adjust Page. The ribbon above the page has the same Rotate, Crop and gear for the page you are currently on.

When you download, the PDF keeps the rotation as the page's own rotation, the standard way a PDF records it. Acrobat, Chrome, Preview and phones all show it the right way up.

Crop one page

Click Crop on a thumbnail or the ribbon. The page opens in a window. Drag a box around the part you want to keep and click Apply crop. The page on screen, its thumbnail and the download are all cropped to that area, and the pages around it close up with even spacing.

Cropping is not destructive. It sets the page's crop box, which tells PDF readers which part of the page to show. Open Crop again and choose Remove crop to bring the whole page back.

On a scan, Remove dark edges in the Adjust Page panel can find and trim scanner borders for you.

Fix that sideways page

Open the PDF, hover the page thumbnail and click Rotate — free, nothing uploaded.

Undo, and mixing the two

Every rotate and every crop is one undo step: press Ctrl+Z to step back, or Ctrl+Y to redo. Rotation and crop work together. Crop a page, then rotate it, and the kept area turns with it. Both are saved with your document, so they are still there if you close the tab and come back.

Works on every kind of page

Rotate and Crop work on a page from the PDF you opened, on a scanned page, on a Blank Design Page and on a Document page you typed yourself. You can keep filling a turned page: placing, moving and resizing text boxes and signatures behaves the same as on an upright page.

Not sure where things are?

Click the small ? next to Rotate, Crop and the gear on the ribbon for a quick tour of the page tools: Rotate, Crop, Adjust, the + Insert menu and the ••• More menu.

Rotating a whole file instead?

To turn every page of a file at once without opening the editor, use the standalone Rotate PDF tool. To pull a page out as its own PDF, use Extract on its thumbnail. To clean up a scan beyond rotating and cropping — straighten it, whiten grey paper, fix perspective — see how to clean up a scanned PDF.

FAQ

Does rotating a page also rotate what I typed on it?

Yes. The whole page turns — the page itself and every text box, signature and image on it — so what you see is exactly what downloads.

Can I rotate just one page instead of the whole file?

Yes. Rotate works on one page at a time, from that page's thumbnail or from the ribbon for the page you are on. For turning a whole file at once there is also the standalone Rotate PDF tool.

Is cropping permanent?

Cropping sets the page's crop box, the standard way a PDF says which part of the page to show. Open Crop again and choose Remove crop to get the whole page back, or press Ctrl+Z.

Can I still add text or sign on a rotated page?

Yes. Placing, moving and resizing text boxes and signatures works the same on a turned page, and they turn with it in the download.

Which pages can I rotate and crop?

Any page: a PDF page, a scan, a Blank Design Page or a Document page you typed.
